This is my morning beauty routine when I’m racing out the door to get to my 9am lecture!
I’m currently a student at University, meaning my mornings are unfortunately usually early, caused by lectures or getting work done before a lecture. I find I’m most productive during either the early morning, or very late at night – does anyone have this problem too? My routine maximises my time in bed, and minimises my time out of bed without sacrificing my beauty routine.
7:30am – I wake up and check social media (Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, YouTube, WordPress, you know the drill).
7:50am – I get out of bed and zombie walk to the bathroom. Here, I tie my hair up, and put on a headband. I switch up my cleansers quite often, but right now I’m using the Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel.
TIP #1: This cleanser contains natural alpha hydroxy acids from fruit which break down dead cells that build up on the skin. This sort of action classifies it as a chemical exfoliator – perfect of those who have problematic skin and are worried about physical bead exfoliation (like me). The majority of cell renewal occurs at night, so it’s important not to skip out on cleansing in the morning, even if your skin still feels ‘clean’. It’s also for this reason that enough sleep is so important – we want as much renewal as possible in our beauty sleep!
Ever since I was little, I’ve always wash my face with ice cold water, morning and night. It tightens my pores, gives my skin an instant brightening treatment and wakes me up.
I then use one pump of the Neutrogena Sensitive Skin Moisturiser, and massage it into my skin until it has absorbed. This moisturiser is dead cheap, and works amazingly. It’s perfect for those with problematic skin because it doesn’t contain any fancy extras that might irritate you. I’ve tried so many high-end moisturisers, but I always seem to fall back into using this one. This is my 6 or 7th bottle now, and it’s still my favourite moisturiser.
Next, I use a pea sized amount of Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face Sunscreen SPF 50+, and pat it onto my skin. This sunscreen is a game changer. I am so impressed with the Neutrogena range, because not only are they quality, dermatologist tested products, but the price is sooo cheap. This water-light sunscreen leaves a matte finish – no more oily, slick, white cast sunscreen. Plus, it’s formulated for the face, so it won’t clog your pores or irritate your sensitive skin.
I then leave my skin for a couple of minutes for the products to sink in. I don’t bother in the morning with toner, eye cream or serum because I frankly don’t have the time or energy (claps for girls that have their life together!).
8:00am – I crack two eggs into a pan, topped with some pepper, dried herbs and soy sauce. This is what I have most mornings, and is a great way to have healthy protein and vitamins at the start of the day.
8:20am – I apply my everyday makeup.
8:30am – I pack my lunchbox and brush my teeth.
8:40am – I head out to door to walk to University with my friend! I live on campus, so it’s super quick for me to walk to lectures, and I also get to live next door to some of my best friends.
Let me know in the comments if you do anything special in the morning.
Don’t forget to treat yourself xx
It’s so funny that we use such similar products. I’ve sworn by the Neutrogena sunscreen for years and am also currently using the same Mario Badescu cleanser. I’ll do a review on it soon when I feel like I’ve used it for long enough. Let me know how you go too..xx
